Course Schedule

One learning cycle: 10 classes

Duration per class: 3 hours

Recommended frequency: at least two classes per week

Estimated portfolio preparation period: It typically takes around 4-6 cycles to complete, depending on the student's individual circumstances.

Tools/Softwares

Students are required to have the Adobe Toolkit prepared before class, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects.

Teaching content: Introduction to the field of Fine Arts and basic understanding the process of preparing an art portfolio. Emphasis is placed on guiding students to understand the commonly used equipment and design softwares in the art portfolio production process, as well as experiencing different artistic techniques and expression styles.

 

You will learn: A comprehensive understanding of the Fine Arts field; familiarity with and hands-on experience in using essential design software and artistic techniques for portfolio preparation; a brief introduction to the purposes of design software. You will also determine your area of interest within the field of Fine Arts.

Teaching content: In the form of projects, you will officially begin creating your professional portfolio, focusing on strengthening your artistic creativity. At the start of each project, the teacher will provide a brief description of the topic and lead a brainstorming session with the students to stimulate your creativity and help you develop a competitive and compelling artistic concept. By the end of this cycle, 35% of your portfolio completion is expected.

 

You will learn: The ability to express your unique understanding in each artwork; familiarity with the process of brainstorming; the importance of personal concepts in the creation of artworks.

Teaching content: Strengthening the delivery of specialized knowledge and fostering the ability of independent thinking; guiding students to delve into their own artistic field, independently designing each process, and further refining artistic techniques and post-production. It is expected that by the end of this cycle, students will have completed 70% of their portfolio.

 

You will learn: Different artistic styles and development of your own unique artistic style. You will gain the ability to think independently, transform ideas into artistic inspiration, and present them in your artworks.

Teaching content: Wrapping up the portfolio - assisting students in fulfilling any additional requirements specific to each university's portfolio (if applicable), writing descriptions for each artwork. During the layout teaching process, students will be taught how to use design software to organize and integrate their own artworks, creating a complete portfolio. It is expected that by the end of this cycle, students will have completed 100%* of their portfolio.

 

You will learn: Checking for any gaps and making necessary adjustments, reviewing the overall content of your portfolio, and making fine-tuning according to university requirements (e.g., OCAD requires painting-related artworks). You will develop and showcase your unique personal style, and be able to independently complete artworks; prepare to adapt to the university instruction; define your own direction; clarify your artistic path; have your own comprehensive portfolio that represents your achievements.
